Top 5 Wax Seal Trends For Your Wedding by Ashley M

Trend #1 - Vellum and Wax Seals

What better way to start our Top 5 List, than with vellum and wax seals!
We’re crushing hard on this romantic trend hitting the invitation game this year!  There aren’t many things we love more than a stunning vellum overlay, a perfectly placed belly band, or a modern take on a classic envelope!
Looking for a unique way to elevate your vellum?  Consider working with a local artist or your favorite calligrapher to personalize your designs using your wedding monogram, or a special quote!  Another great way to elevate your vellum overlay or envelope – add a touch of ribbon or twine, then finish your piece with a custom wax seal!
Wax Seal Quick Tip:Adding wax seals to vellum for your wedding invitations?  Make sure you select our Professional Grade Adhesive so that your peel and stick wax seals stay firmly attached!  As vellum can be slightly slippery (almost like plastic), adding a piece of twine, ribbon, or wax seal are all great ways to keep your vellum details in place!

Trend #2 - White on White There aren’t many things that say wedding more than a pure white wedding invitation suite!

We’ve fallen hard for these stunning creations above (square wax seals anyone?!) and are seeing more and more of our designers creating Bright White custom wax seals!
We love that white wax seals can add modern elegance without causing any disruption to your existing color palette!  Whether you are creating a modern suite design, working with a complex color scheme, or have decided to add wax seals later in your planning process  – bright white is always a great choice!
Wax Seal Quick Tip: If your seals get dirty during assembly, take a cotton swab and dip it in a little bit of rubbing alcohol, then lightly brush the surface of your wax seals to remove any dirt or dust.  Don’t worry – we use this method all the time, the rubbing alcohol won’t cause any harm to the seals!

Trend #3 –  Vintage Stamps & Wax Seals Talk about romantic!!  One of our favorite trends for the summer wedding season (and beyond), is the combination of vintage stamps and custom wax seals!  Perfectly paired to compliment any style of suite, this trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon!

Did you know that many post offices have a secret hand-sorting option? This is a great tip for any of you who have incorporated delicate details (like wax seals, vintage stamps, etc.) to your invitations!  While modern sorting machines are a wonderful invention, your beautiful wedding invitations may deserve a more gentle approach. Be sure to ask your Post Office if this is an option!
Wax Seal Quick Tip: Mailing your wax seals?  We recommend using our Professional Grade Adhesive for your seals and requesting that your invitations be hand sorted.  Want to be extra cautious?  Slip your invitations into an outer envelope to protect all the pretty things inside!

Trend #4 –  Wax Seal Escort Cards Logos, and numbers, and monograms, oh my!

We are so in love with what’s happening in the escort card world right now!  With every type of customization possible – from custom calligraphy, to numbered wax seals and designer monograms, there is no better time to get creative with your escort cards!
This season we’re seeing more and more of our brides and grooms working with calligraphers and designers to create stunning venue centerpieces out of their seating charts and escort cards.  From custom calligraphy, to watercolor maps, and antique ladders finished with wax seal escort cards – this is a great way to create a keepsake for your special day.
Wax Seal Quick Tip: Looking for an easy way to create your own DIY escort cards? Be sure to check out our Wax Seal Number Package! Available in a range of numbers, and trending colors – this the perfect gift for the DIY loving bride-to-be in your life!

Trend #5 – Nature Inspired Wax Seals To top off our Wax Seal Trends List, we couldn’t possibly forget about the all of greenery inspired wax seals, invitation suites, wedding themes that are trending so beautifully this year!

Since the announcement of Greenery as the Pantone Color for 2017, we’ve seen a massive movement towards natural wedding invitations, foliage inspired wax seals, and stunning envelope liners.  Whether you choose to add your favorite floral design, leaf, or iconic laurel design – you can never go wrong with beautiful florals, greenery, and wax seals!
Already designed your custom wax seal and now looking for another way to add greenery to your invitations?  Find some beautifully patterned paper, then follow the step by step instructions by our friends at Martha Stewart Weddings to create your very own DIY Envelope Liners – the perfect finish to complete your look!
Wax Seal Quick Tip: We’re loving this inspiration from our friends over at Yonder Design with their combination of herbs and wax seals!  Try stamping your wax seal directly over a sprig of your favorite herb – lavender and sage are our personal favorites!  This beautiful touch is a great way to add a hint of fragrance that is perfect for your menus, centerpieces, or invitations!

Looking for last-minute touches to tie your graduation party together? Jazz up your party using our free printable décor suite.

The trendy black and white banner can be paired with your school colors and includes 2016-2018 artwork so you can use it for years to come! Hang it on the front door to welcome your party guests, over the treat table, above your proudly-displayed graduation photos and achievements or anywhere needing a festive touch.
Tags in different shapes and sizes can be used for topping cupcakes, grad cap chocolate candies or favor boxes stuffed with your favorite treat. You can even sprinkle them on the tables as decorative confetti or wrap them around the striped straws sitting by the punch bowl.

To get started, download the artwork and print on cardstock.

How to make the banner:
• cut out banner shapes
• punch holes in top corners
• string with jute for a natural look, use colorful satin ribbon to add your school spirit, or thread with glitter cord to add a pop of sparkle and shine

How to make the tags:
• cut out tag shapes
• attach to desired pieces – glue or tape square tags to toothpicks and use as cupcake toppers, wrap rectangle tags around striped straws using double-stick tape, or adhere to the top of favor boxes in your school color (and don’t forget the treats!)

5 Tips from Carlson Craft on how to take a great Senior photo

2/24/2016

Picture
Everyone has their senior photos taken. And everyone wants theirs to be unique. So how do YOU make yours stand out and show your personality? Here are 5 tips for taking senior shots that are all about you.

1. Bring along props. What do you love best? Bring it along to be included in your senior photo: an instrument, your pet, a sports item, your camera, paint brushes, your bike, your pointe shoes. Maybe your fun personality means you’ll bring along confetti to toss in the air!

2. What’s the season? Do you want your photos to be taken in the winter, summer, spring or fall? Each season has its own perks (snow, leaves, sun, flowers) and its own great photo opportunities.

3. Dress the part. Have some shots taken of you in your sports uniform, in your running clothes and shoes, in your pointe shoes and tutu, etc. You’ll capture yourself at a moment in time doing what you love.

4. Location, location, location. Take the photos somewhere you love: at the lake, on the basketball court, in the woods or at your favorite hangout spot.

5. Be expressive. Take a mixture of smiling, serious and fun photos so you have plenty to choose from for different purposes (framed portraits, yearbook, etc.).

Extra credit: Pick out your announcement beforehand so your photographer can stage your photo to fit your announcement perfectly.

PERSONALIZE ANY INVITATION OR ANNOUNCEMENT WITH DIGITAL METALLIC GOLD & SILVER INK

1/20/2016

Picture
Fleming's Printed Affair now offers Envelopments' Inc. Metallic Gold or Metallic Silver ink options.

Envelopments' digital printing now enables metallic gold and silver ink to be printed on card stocks and papers at a lower cost and faster turnaround than other traditional printing processes as there are no plates required or expensive set up fees to accomplish this type of printing.

Similar to digital printing with CMYK toners, metallic gold and silver toner is fused to the surface of card stocks and papers with heat. This digital option offers a great way to highlight metallic gold and silver text and graphics on dark pigmented stocks with smaller quantities and quicker turnaround. We recommend using matte stocks for better metallic contrast. Make sure your type is large enough to be legible.

PRODUCT AVAILABILITY: Digital Metallic Gold and Silver is available for cut stocks, folded cards and envelope liners. Digital Gold and Silver can be printed on text weight stocks, however, we cannot print Gold or Silver on envelopes at this time.
Digital Gold can be combined with Digital CMYK on the same print panel, but not Digital Silver. Likewise, Digital Silver can be combined with Digital CMYK on the same print panel, but not Digital Gold.

Holiday Card Photos - DOs and DON'Ts

11/19/2015

Picture
People love getting all kinds of holiday cards in the mail, but they love getting photo holiday cards the best. They’re personal glimpses into the sender’s life and a meaningful way to send greetings.
But before you send photo holiday cards…you have to get the perfect photos! Here are some great tips to help you get them.

DO: let your family’s personality show through in your holiday card photos – make funny faces, take selfies and have fun!
DON’T: feel like you have to hire a photographer and take formal, posed shots for your holiday cards if it’s not natural for your family.

DO: Use your favorite photos from Facebook or Instagram on your holiday cards.
DON’T: Forget to make sure the photo size is large enough and the quality is good enough to produce in a larger format so you don’t end up with fuzzy photos.

DO: include pets in your holiday card photos.
DON’T: send a holiday card using only the pets’ photos – friends and family want to see YOUR faces most.

DO: If you recently got married, use a wedding photo on your holiday card.
DON’T: think your holiday card can take the place of a handwritten thank you note – the two should be separate.

DO: choose a card that shows off multiple photos.
DON’T: forget to take individual pictures of you and your spouse, the kids, pets so you have different content to fill the photo areas.

DO: browse for your perfect holiday card before taking photos.
DON’T: forget to leave room in your photos for the card’s design, message area and personalization.

DO: have everyone in the photo wear coordinating outfits.
DON’T: wear matchy-matchy outfits – people will only see the clothing, not your faces.

Choose your holiday card, say “cheese!” and you’re on your way to personal greetings this season!
